Praying for Our Husbands

kimberly moffitt has recently been handing out little spiral-bound booklets of 3"x5" cards. they contain 31 verses (one for each day of the month) to pray over your child. she titles each card (ex. "salvation" or "obedience") and then puts a corresponding verse such as John 3:16. she got this idea from mom's in touch.

as i was copying her little booklet to give to some friends, i thought what a great tool this would be for praying for my husband too.

our husbands are faced with so much every day from just the pressure of leading our families to the enticements of the world. they are told to love us as Christ loved the church and to dwell with us in understanding. how difficult all this must be! i was struck with the conviction to pray very specifically for my husband every day, not just "please give my husband a good day". we can pray that they would be bold with the gospel, that they would not get angry, that they would keep their minds pure, that they would have self-control, that the Lord would give them help in loving us as Christ loved the Church, etc. there is so much! to have these verses already written out is a huge help to me. as i pray i can just flip through these and pray them over my husband. how much more equipped for battle will our husbands be if we are showering them with prayer throughout the day!

"Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you..."
1 Samuel 12:23

practical note: if you don't want to handwrite verses on cards you can also buy blank index cards and print on them. then just punch a hole and tie them together with ribbon or buy little book rings at wal-mart (5 for $.89).

What a good idea, Brooke! I would really like to implement this into my prayer life. Do you have a list of the verses you use, both for children and husbands? Thanks for posting on this...very encouraging!

Thanks so much Brooke! I was going to ask the same thing as Rachel.

Did Kim come up with the list herself? I have Power of a Praying Wife/Parent cards....I am interested to see if they are similar.

shawna-
kimberly said that her "mom's in touch" group put the verses (for the kids) together. i don't know where they took it from, it could be from the praying parent book. i will post them today so you can compare.
