*okay, april. here's another one for you!*
i finally finished my first quilt! i made this for Mom for christmas, but couldn't get it quilted until just recently. so, now it is officially done! woo hoo!!! it's small, but it was all hand pieced. i'm not sure it would have ever gotten done if i would have made it any bigger!

That's beautiful. I'm sure your mom loves it. How long did it take you? I started a quilt 4 years ago. Yikes! I haven't touched it for a while.
Great job! Looks like a lot of work, but I am sure your mom will always cherish it.
It was so great to see you guys last week, even though the time was short. Hopefully we can visit longer next time. :)
Now I really feel special!!
No picture could ever do that quilt justice. You did a great job and should be proud. I know your mom will love it forever.
It turned out really nice! I told my mom yesterday that you are the daughter she always wanted because you quilt.
Wow!!! You did such an AMAZING job on the quilt. I've always thought that you were very talented. What a sweet and kind thing to do for your dear mother. I'm sure it meant so much to her.
Wow, great job, Brooke! I've always thought quilting sounded fun, just so time-consuming. Maybe when the kids are bigger. :) Are you going to do another one?

the quilt top took me about a month (working on it a little each evening). technically i started it in october and finally finished it yesterday (binding and label). there are so many steps to a quilt that combined take forever! it's worth it though.

i am actually working on three other quilts. one is for the chapel, one is for our bedroom, and one is going to be made with one of my Dad's favorite t-shirts.
quilting is so fun! i love it. i actually prefer hand piecing over machine because i can do it while josh and i are sitting around in the evening. it has become one of my favorite hobbies! you should really try it when you have time. i know you would be good at it... you're crafty.

that's funny about what you said to your mom. i think it's easier for me to learn from her because she isn't my mom! i love my Mom, but sometimes it's just hard to be taught something like this from your own mom. :o)
Brooke, I am looking at the quilt a little more closely. Is that a fan pattern in the quilting that I see? You say you hand quilted this and it's your first quilt. That's pretty amazing.

it is a fan pattern, but i didn't hand quilt it. i hand pieced it (all the little pieces are sewn together by hand), but had someone professionally quilt it.
That turned out great Brooke! Way to go. I am impressed. You say your working on 3? You definately have learned from Teresa!! I'm a one project at a time girl.
Keep up the good work!
Brooke! That quilt looks amazing! I've always wanted to learn how to quilt..too bad we don't live closer so I could pop in and you could give me a few pointers! For instance: how to even get started!!
That is GORGEOUS Brook! I love the colors, so airy and happy. The small ones are nice because you can put them on the back of a couch, use them as a throw, or display them in ways you couldn't with a big one.
Quilts are really something that everyone has respect for. Growing up we had a lot of quilts in the house and they were always the favorite blankets.
Oh... you're inspiring me to want to make one!
